How To Confidently Wear Crop Tops When You're Plus Size
This year, I was able to let go of my fashion insecurities and wear whatever I want. Being more accepting and confident of my new body figure has diminished a lot of limitations, especially when it comes to style. Have you ever thought I’d go as far as wearing a crop top? Now I can finally say that I don’t have no restrictions anymore when it comes to clothes and that’s what I want to share with you today. Here are some ways on how to confidently wear a crop top as a plus size girl.
I’M FAT, SO WHAT?
The first step in confidently wearing that crop top is to embrace your lovely figure. So what if your tumtum isn’t flat? So what if there’s extra bulges? The perfect body doesn’t exist and if you happen to have extra fats around your belly then so be it. I know it’s easier said than done, that’s why the first step is always the hardest. Start by wearing a crop top for a few hours in public. Then wear it for a whole day. After the day ends, you’ll realize that it isn’t as bad as you think it is. Do it again, let’s say once a week. You may not notice it but little by little, you’ll become more comfortable and eventually, it will only be just another stylish clothing item in your wardrobe.
CHOOSING THE PERFECT CROP TOP
I love showing off my shoulders as it makes me feel more confident. Wearing a v-shaped off the shoulder crop top compliments my body and shows off a little bit more skin without exposing too much. But at the end of the day, we all have our own preference. You just have to know what works best for you and what suits your body.
BALANCE IS EVERYTHING
I’ve learned from a Filipino stylist how important balance is when it comes to fashion. Wearing a crop top, especially in what I’m wearing in this post, means exposing some skin. So whenever I wear one, I make sure that I wear something that will cover my legs like a pair of high waist jeans or in this case, a maxi skirt. I really love how this whole outfit turned out. Although technically, I wore an all-black outfit, the floral details on the skirt added a pop of color on my look.
DON’T FORGET TO ACCESSORIZE
Michael Kors once said that accessories is the exclamation point of a woman’s outfit. It’s indeed OUR best friend. It completes our outfit and adds more glam. Since technically, it’s still summer, I chose to accessorize this outfit with a gold bangle, a pair of wedge and my new sunnies from JORD Eyewear (click this to get 30% off of their accessories!)
