How To Create New Looks Out Of Your Existing Wardrobe
“I’ve got nothing to wear, I need new clothes.” Does this line sound familiar to you?
There are days when we can’t find anything in our wardrobe, not because we don’t have enough clothes, but because nothing seems to appeal to us anymore. If this looks like your kind of dilemma, then you’ve come to the right place. For today’s post, I’m going to share with you some ways I personally do to create new looks out of my existing wardrobe.
I started experimenting with my existing wardrobe when I worked at my second corporate job in the Philippines. I’ve worn a bandage skirt as a top, I’ve worn a maxi skirt as a dress and I’ve also tried creating a chic top out of an oversized flannel shirt. Some of the things I’ve done in the past were hit or miss but one trick that I still use up to this moment is wearing a dress with a skirt.
STYLE # 1
I recently bought a dress from Shein and I was excited about it because I never had a strawberry print dress. I decided to wear it with a belt to add shape, a red beret, and red flats. As for my purse, I’m currently loving my new envelope bag from Cesca Handcrafted Styles (check out their website and Instagram to see more of their products). It’s a great spring/summer outfit for brunch, an afternoon date and even on out of town trips.

STYLE # 2
After wearing it a few times, I got bored. I still like wearing the dress, but for some reason, I started to find the print too overwhelming. That’s when I decided to pair it with a pleated skirt I found on my wardrobe. I also wore a black belt to keep everything together and to add shape as well. I used the same purse and wore the same beret from last time but I changed my red flats to blue suede flats which match the color of my skirt. Like the first style, this is also a great look for casual days but I can also see myself wearing this look at work minus the beret of course :P
It’s amazing how you can create new looks out of your existing wardrobe just by adding or changing a single item in your outfit. For me, the key to maximizing what you own is to be creative and take extra time to mix and match. I also recommend checking out a couple of fashion bloggers/vloggers for tips and tricks which you can incorporate with your personal style.
Most of all, follow your gut. I believe that all of us have good taste when it comes to fashion, you just need to believe in what you see. Try mixing and matching a few items in your wardrobe and see if it looks good. Doesn’t matter if you break some fashion rules because like what I’ve been saying here in my blog, what’s important is that you feel and look good inside and out.
