Since summer is the best season to travel, I want to take a moment and talk about travel style. One of the things I look forward to when travelling is planning my travel outfits. Now, before you raise your brows and say I’m just being vain here (although that’s pretty accurate too lol), I actually think that planning ahead is a wise thing to do. Planning your travel outfits in advance can save you a lot of time on your trip and a lot of space on your luggage too! I am currently working with PrettyLittleThing and together we will be sharing some tips on how to plan your travel outfits, along with some stylish travel outfit ideas you may want to wear on your trip.

I’m sure most of you have already heard of PrettyLittleThing but for those who haven’t, PrettyLittleThing is an online clothing store known for their trendy yet affordable clothes. They cater to every style and have sizes for everyone, which I truly love! Since I got introduced to the online shopping world, PLT is one of the websites I love visiting that’s why I’m so happy to be finally working with them. Almost everything that I’m wearing right now can be found on their vacation and plus size collection except for one item that I already own.

HOW TO PLAN YOUR TRAVEL OUTFITS

  • Always consider your itinerary and the weather before planning ahead. You need to know the places you’re about to go to and the activities you’re planning on doing before even planning your travel outfits. It is also crucial to know how the weather is going to be before going to your destination. This is important because this would help you decide what kind of clothes you need to bring and how many items you need to pack. It’s not practical to come unprepared and buy a couple of must haves while on a trip because aside from the hassle and the delay it could cause, that would also cost you money that can be spent on other fun things.

  • Don’t just choose between dressing in comfort and travelling in style. Aim for both. I always here people telling others that you don’t need to compromise comfort for style and sorry to be blunt but I just don’t buy that. I mean, why choose between comfort and style when you can have both? There are lots of clothes that are stylish and are still comfortable to wear. You just need to be patient in mixing and matching.

  • Go for staples that can be easily mixed and matched. I love bringing dresses when I travel because aside from the fact that I love wearing them, dresses are so easy to mix and match. Aside from that, they are also light to pack compared to jeans. However, it is also great to have at least a pair of jeans or shorts in your luggage, especially when you are planning to do strenuous activities. They’re also flexible and are very stylish.

  • Bring a few accessories to spice up your outfits. Accessories can change the entire look of your outfit so if you are planning to pack light, make sure to include a few accessories in your luggage.

STYLISH TRAVEL OUTFIT IDEAS

AIRPORT OUTFIT

Whenever we plan our travel outfits, we usually just plan for the trip itself and disregard what we’re going to wear when flying. I mean, there’s really nothing wrong with that. With all the things we need to do such as going to the airport, checking in your baggage and walking to the departure area, the only thing we want is to be comfortable and get to our destination ASAP. But again, it is possible to wear a stylish travel outfit and still be comfortable even if it’s going to the airport. When it comes to airport outfits, it’s always nice to dress in layers. You don’t want to be too hot or too cold that’s why a leather jacket (similar) paired with a cute cotton dress works perfectly fine. A comfy pair of sneakers is also a good option to save your feet from the pain with all the walking you’re about to do.

FIRST DAY OUTFIT

For Day 1, the key is to dress in comfort and in style. Stylish travel outfits like a crop top paired with a pair of jeans won’t limit your movements when on a trip. As much as I love wearing dresses, I always make sure I wear a pair of jeans or shorts on the first day because I normally allot this day to familiarize myself to the place that I am in. I like wearing a crop top or something flowy because I get too warm whenever I wear jeans, but then, it’s my personal preference. If wearing a crop top isn’t your thing, a cute top or a t-shirt is also a great alternative.

DAY AND NIGHT OUTFIT

When planning your travel outfits, it’s also important to think of the time you’ll allot for changing. Since, you’re going to be out and about, you may not have much time to change outfits. For that reason, I recommend packing something you can wear from day to night such as a bodycon dress and a kimono. It’s a great combination to wear during day tours because it’s an instant stylish travel outfit-- perfect for pictures! To transform it into a night look, all you have to do is change your pair of sandals with a pair of flats or pumps and remove the kimono. That saves you so much time in preparing and saves you a lot of space in your luggage too!

A FEW OTHER travel outfit ideas

BEACH OUTFIT

Whether you’re going to the beach or not, I still recommend including swimwear on your list when planning your travel outfits. What if you found out there’s a nice beach nearby? Or maybe there’s a pool or hot tub where you’re staying? The whole point of planning your travel outfits ahead of time is to come prepared without packing too much. Although this is more of a “just in case” kind of outfit, bringing at least one swimwear won’t take so much space and I swear, somehow, it will still be handy even if you’re not planning a beach trip.

LAST DAY OUTFIT

Same as airport outfits, I feel that last day outfits are often disregarded. This is the day when we are torn between “I don’t want to go home yet” and “my energy has reached its max limit and I miss my bed”. A quick fix to this is packing clothes with bright colors and prints. Prints and colors are the easiest way to travel in style because you don’t have to exert too much effort in mixing and matching. Plus, it can boost up your mood and your energy too.
